The Little Prince | Antoine de Saint-Exupéry | PodNu Podcasts & Book Insights
It's been such a long time since I read a fairy tale or something similar. But today I turned to a book that I read a long time ago, and one I know that I will continue to read again and again throughout my life, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I remember when I first saw the book The Little Prince in a library when I was still in elementary school, I didn't read it at the time, I just thought the illustrations in it were very interesting. When I saw this book again, I was already in high school, and still in the library, and this time I just couldn’t help myself, so I dived right in. Back then, I thought I had read and understood the love between the little prince and the rose, and how the fox was tamed by the little prince. And when I looked up at the starry sky at night, I would be able to see the smile from the stars.
Today, when I pick up the book The Little Prince again, I read and understood a little more, but this time I understood how much I’d missed and guessed at how much there was still to go. I read and understood about the fox's letting go, I read and understood the responsibility of the little prince, and I read and understood the barrier between children and adults. It is a beautiful and sad story, melancholy but without self-pity. Even more unfortunately, I realized that when you can read and understand more of this book, you are no longer a child. Perhaps when you understand all of it, you return to being a child once more. As the title page of the book reads, "I dedicate this book to the child who became that grown up."
To be honest, I am a little afraid to talk about this classic work, because it's so mysterious and wonderful that it seems I'm not qualified to talk about it yet, I'm moved but it’s so hard to put it into words. When you finish reading it, you will have an urge to cry, because it really has an imperceptible power to delve into the saddest and softest part of our hearts...
